Semana Santa in Grenada and Seville
I have written an illustrated trip report on experiencing the processions in Grenada and in Seville during the Easter holy week at http://www.artphototravel.net/europe...a-and-seville/ .
For me, Grenada provided a close and personal interaction with the processions as they wound their way through the narrow streets of the old town. In Seville the processions were on a much grander scale, in particular the Macarena with its entourage of thousands, including hundreds dressed as roman legionnaires.

I attended Semana Santa for 3 days in Málaga and 5 days in Sevilla this year. I plan on returning to Málaga for the entire week next year, since I enjoyed it more there than in Sevilla.
Sevilla, unfortunately had rain four of the five days were were there. Furthermore, on the one day we were able to watch the processions, there were such enormous crowds that we weren't able to see well.
The hotels appreared to charge double their usual rates, also.

We were in Seville for several days of SS...it rained one day so the processions were canceled.
I also found the crowds so huge iIt was hard to see much. Seeing the processions on T V
was often the only option.
Although it was interesting to experience something so grand and different,
I think I would like to visit Seville again- at
a " normal" time .

Les, thank you for your detailed report and beautiful photos. I was in Seville and Granada during Semana Santa many years ago and the experience remains a treasured memory. Your account brought it all back...
