Hi - we have roughed out an itinerary for a trip from May 3-17th and just want to get other opinions on the amount of time we are spending in some cities - - too long? not enough?
May 4th - arrive in Zagreb, Croatia (have relatives here, have visited 4 times, planning to stay until the 7th)
May 7th - train to Ljubljana, Slov, spend day visiting the city.
May 8th - rent car for day trip to Lake Bled, go back and sleep the night in Ljubljana
May 9th - train to Graz, Austria. arrive late afternoon, spend evening, and full day on the 10th touring Graz by foot.
May 11th - - train to Salzurg, spend 2.5 days there
May 14th -- train to Venice. Fly out of Venice (to home) on the 17th
see like the right amount of time in each place? We have been to Zagreb and to Venice, and really want that time in each place, but wondering what you might think of time alloted for the other cities.
thanks much!
seem like a good itinerary?

Looks about right. I'd like a whole day in Llubljana, you could catch a bus to Lake Bled from the main bus station if you like, I think you have to change but very pleasant.
It really depends on what you want to see and do!
Ljubljana is absolutely lovely! If you aren't particularly interested in museums, or are selective about which ones you visit, a day should be enough to see the highlights. BTW, when I was there (2009), I had a wonderful dinner at Pri Škofu - for more information about it and the other restaurants at which I ate in Slovenia, see my "trip report" - just click on my name to find it.
When I was in Bled, I visited the castle, walked through the Vintgar Gorge, took a pletna to Bled Island, and walked around the lake. That took a FULL day, and would have made for a VERY long day trip from Ljubljana (but would probably be possible if that's your preference).
IMO, 2.5 days is reasonable for Salzburg. I haven't been to Graz yet.
Hope that helps!
