Hi Everyone

Spending two weeks in Sardinia in early October, the first week of which will be in Pula/Chia area with some trips to Cagliari.

We are still trying to finalise the second week. As we are flying out of Alghero, we were planning on staying somewhere up in that area, which would excompass enough worthwhile attractions like Bosa, Alghero itself and La Pelosa beach (we would have a car). However, the east coast also seems to beautiful (Orosei, Cala Ganone etc) and while it is not ideal for our flight home I am guessing we can just drive to Alghero from this area on the morning of our flight if needs be.

Would anyone have a clear preference for either of these areas?

Usual interests:
- Beaches;
- Nice, authentic food;
- Villages/towns that have at least some action going on at night (it's perfectly ok if it's not Ibiza levels of action);
- Some day trip possibilities like ruins or walks we could do.

Consider further north of Cala above Olbia to Costa Smeralda and Porto Cervo or in my opinion even better La Maddalena (ferry from Palau).
Also, time permitting a short ferry ride from west of Palau to Bonifacio on Corsica. Different culture, different feel.
From Olbia to Alghero is an easy drive 1.5-2 hours, along a lovely pastoral route. Alghero, I believe holds more charm than any other Sardinian town with a Spanish feel and great food.
And for action at night try 'El Peyote Club', just west of Porto Cervo. That should meet your needs for "action".

Cala Gonone is in a stunning rock and mountain landscape with some rather small pebble beaches which can be reached by boat or on hiking trails (easy to Cala Luna, strenous to the other beaches).
The San Teodoro area is flat and rather boring, but good sandy beaches.
Everythng north of Olbia up to Palau is just marvellous. Santa Maddalena and Asinara are very, very windy.
Southern Corsica is fine, above all the many hidden beaches betwween Bonifacio and Sarte.
