second hand bikes in Holland (Rotterdam or Amsterdam)?

Anyone know how we would get second hand bikes in Amsterdam (just for fun riding, nothing fancy or specific. More so just wanting to have bikes while we are there)? I imagine there are plenty of options but not sure how to go about it. Do they have an online kijiji equivalent? or a Goodwill store? Thanks in advance for your help.

Depending on how long you are in Amsterdam it may be cheaper, and easier to hire bikes.
Otherwise a bike shop will have second hand bikes, or if you can read Dutch look at www.marktplaats.nl

Yes just rent from a reliable company like MacBikes or at any train station. http://macbike.nl/en/bike-rental/

A word of warning. Second hand bikes are not cheap here, and if you are offered bikes which are ridiculously cheap they are probably stolen. Only buy bikes with a working lock and preferably with two keys for the lock. Check too for any postcode stamped in the frame.

If you buy a second hand one at a bike shop, expect to pay over 100 euros for a good, serviceable one.
In Rotterdam, an excellent source for second hand bicycles is PiekFijn ( a Goodwill store) on Mariniersweg, just off Binnenrotte. But here too, bikes aren't "cheap"
Cheaper and easier and less worry to rent a bike, indeed.

some bike shops IME will agree to a buy back plan, of course at a lower price than they sold it for.

Only if you buy another, new bike, usually, so don't count on it

I have bought four bikes, fiets, in NL, two new and two used. If you don't see a bike shop in your first hour in Amsterdam you have your eyes closed. Most of the shops sell used bikes in addition to new ones.

As said in other posts, used bikes are expensive but are still only 1/3 or less of the price of a new one. However it is much cheaper to rent unless you are going to be there for a long spell.
