Seating Chart for ES* Italia

Is there a site that shows the seating chart for Eurostar Italia? Or does anyone know how they are configured?

I understand it's layout is something like the following and I'm interested hoe they are numbered. For example where would the seat number 55 and 56 be.

The Eurostar trains are slightly different configurations. But surprise, I can actually answer this question, since we took the ES 9440 coach 4, and were in seat nos. 53, 54, 55, and 56 (first class) from Naples to Bologna, and ES 9498, coach 2, seat nos. 51, 53, 54, and 55 (from Venice to Milan).

53 - 56 are facing each other. 55 and 56 are on the aisle. 53 and 54 are window seats. 51 and 52 are the two seats facing each other on the other side of 53 - 56. They are located in the middle of the coach.

Not all Eurostar Italia trains cars are the same. We had booked reservations on several. While on one, I looked for what would be on our seats on a future ride and was surprised that they weren't even together, but on opposite sides of the train. Then when we took that train, the two seats in question were side by side. And although for two trips we had the exact same seat numbers, on one trip they were side by side and on another they were opposite from each other. Go figure.

Looks like I should find x1-x2 seats so they will be the two window seats facing each other (hopefully).

TrenItalia site's reservation system let you specify your seating preference but it seems that it doesn't really care what you enter...

Is it true that you can actually select the seat from the on-screen seating chart using the automated tickeing machine at some stations?

I didn't see that, but wasn't looking for it since we already had our seats. But I'd be interested to know that too. Anyone?

Also, if you are going now that the summer rush is over, there should be plenty of seats so you can switch once on the train. When we were seated in the weird configuration with seat 51, seat 56 remained open. Although people got on and off the train (particularly at the stop in Rome), there were always seats available.

Oh dear, am I reading that there are some backward-facing seats on Eurostar trains? I can't ride backward, it makes me sick. I'm going to have to figure out how to make sure I get a front-facing seat!

I take the EuroStar two or three times a month. I have never seen consistent seating arrangements, so unless something has changed, then I would say you can't predict, as Patrick said earlier. All you can do is change seats with someone if you do indeed find yourself sitting backwards.

I have also been unable to figure out what end of the car the numbering starts. I always seem to get on the wrong end and have to make my way down the aisle, or get off and get back on at the other end.

They have also refurbished a lot of the Intercities, and they two have the seating facing each other.

Not only are there differences in seating (although the two times we went, the seating arrangments were, in fact, the same design), there were other, subtle differences. For example, on one we took, there were outlets for computers, dvds, etc., and not on another
