Searching for a restaurant in Le Marais for Sunday lunch in August

My mission seems impossible so I am turning to Fodor's for advice. We are only in Paris for part of Saturday and a full day on Sunday. I'd like to go to the Picasso Museum, walk around the Marais and have lunch between 2 and 3 PM. We will be with friends who have never been to Paris so I was thinking that a traditional bistro would be nice. So many restaurants close in August that I am having a hard time reserving anything.

Thanks for any suggestions that you can provide.

It's not just the August closing that you will have a problem with. Many/most bistro type restaurants close on the weekend and especially on Sunday. I just checked and it appears that Bofinger is open on Sunday, so give them a try. The food is good and the decor is spectacular.

We like Camille at
24, rue des Francs Bourgeois 75003 .

We always go there for our 1st lunch when in Paris. It has a few tables outside. It does get crowded although we leave our name and take a walk and come back at the designated time. You can also make a reservation on The Fork.

Thanks. I am going to look around a bit but I might make a reservation at Camille in the meantime. The combination of Sunday and August is making the search more challenging than usual.

L'Ange 20

It is tiny. Food was wonderful. No idea if it is open in August though.

Bonfinger

Very traditional bistro.

I can second the recommendations for both Camille and L'Ange 20.
I have eaten at both several times including my visit to Paris this May. Both restaurants have never disappointed me.

Your time precludes many "restaurants." 2-3pm is not a traditional lunch hour. You will have to look at brasseries and other non-stop type of casual establishments.

That's what I was thinking, what a strange hour to have lunch. Bofinger is always open every day, and I do like it. It is a brasserie, that's what you need, although even then, it closes mid-day, but not until 3 pm. I think a "traditional bistro" desire means a small restaurant with traditional French cuisine? I don't think those will be open for lunch at that time of day.

eg, l'Ange 20 is closed between 2 pm and 6:30 pm.

If we eat breakfast at 9, and don't plan to eat dinner until 8, then 2 seems like a perfect lunch time to me. I can change that to 1PM although I believe that Camille serves all afternoon. L'Ange 20 is closed for most of August.

2:30 PM is the normal cut off time for lunch in a café or restaurant.
I think Camille is open year-round.

We eat at 2 plenty of time. Camille is open all day from 11:30 or so.
