Scotland Trip

I am planning a 6-7 days trip to Scotland. I am interested in mostly natural beauty of the country, highlands, castles, Isles etc. Is April a good month to visit (I am planning 7-14th April). And what would be the cost excluding airfare for a single person. Thanks in advance !!

It depends on how you intend to move around the country and what standard of hotel you want to stay in. Trains are not always a good option in Scotland as lines don't always extend to where you want to go so a tour would probably be the best solution for you. Try:

April should be OK as the weather may be fine, however it may not. Pack a waterproof and be prepared for more than one layer of clothing depending on the temperature. Midges shouldn't be a problem in the early Spring.

The alternative is to rent a car and drive yourself, but if you're a friendly type of person, then the tour should work for you.

Thank you so much for your inputs. I am planning on a solo trip. Budget wise i would like to keep it as frugal as possible. I am not comfortable driving for long hours. So i guess train suggestion seems nice.

Any suggestions for which tour operator should i book with? or how much before should i book?

And lastly any areas to avoid (safety wise) for a solo girl traveler? Any dos and donts?

Thanks a bunch

Rubicund gave you a link to the best tour option . . .

They do exclusively small group tours -- 16 or fewer passengers.
