Scotland Trip
I am taking a very short break to Scotland in the next few weeks and i want to try and fit in some historic attractions. Can anyone suggest at least five that are interesting and are worth checking out. Thanks in advance.

Five Interesting and Historic Places in Scotland:
1) Skara Brae….Orkney
2) Clava Cairns…Inverness
3) Jedburgh Abbey…Jedburgh
4) Iona Abbey…Iona
5) Stirling Castle…Edinburgh
If you look at a map, you'll see these are scattered across all of Scotland. Please do a little research on your own to get an idea of the possibilities ( as janisj said " there are hundreds' ) and consider time and distance. Those of us that are familiar with Scotland will be glad to help once we have more input from you.

Yes Culloden is good -- but only IF the OP is going to be near Inverness.
as histroytraveler says the sites are spread over the entire country . . . Unless we know where, and for how long, anything we suggest is just shooting in the dark.

interesting that the OP who apparently knows nothing about Scotland is offering advice about Edinburgh on another thread.
Me thinks he is maybe a troll (looking at the screen name - perhaps a tour operator phishing?? )

@janisj. I am sorry if my posting upsets you in some way but as you can see from my post i never said i knew nothing about Scotland.
Not that it is any of your business but i lived in Edinburgh for a summer many many years ago and know the area mentioned in the other thread you are apparently referring to. while i lived there i never got the chance to see much of Scotland, so as i have said i have the opportunity to visit a few places while on a business trip.
I just thought i would get some feedback and opinions on the best places to go for my whistle stop tour. I didn't think i would have to explain myself to someone such as yourself jumping to ridiculous conclusions. It's fine though i'll just get the guide book as suggested above no problem.

> i have said i have the opportunity to visit a few places while on a business trip. where you'll be, how long you will be there, and if you'll be taking public transport or driving.
How can anyone give you useful advice . . . "You should go to Skara brae" . . . 'Oh, oops, you'll be based in Edinburgh and only have 2 days . . .'
So you can see why you gave us waaaay too little information.
Sorry if I upset you, and we can definitely help, but you need to give us something to work with.
