Scotland car rental advice

I recently purchased a travel insurance policy with $50,000 in rental collision insurance. Do I need to accept any other insurance when I rent my car?

Also, if I waive insurance, how much extra does the car rental company generally hold on the credit card? We don't have a lot of credit, and I'm very concerned about the amount of money all of our tour destinations are holding on our credit cards.
