Hello! - You have all been most helpful in my trip-planning to Switzerland. Swandav2000 has suggested some lovely hikes in Saanenland - a few include Schönried. Pb_Zweisimmen has informed me of construction in Saanen, which is why I will spend very little time in Saanen. On google maps, I am seeing Schönried listed as a part of Saanen. Does this mean that there is construction in Schönried as well? Just want to start planning which hikes I will be doing in the area - and how much time to dedicate to each town/area. Thanks!

The construction site isn't this big!It's about 200x350m at one side of the village Saanen. Reaching almost to the middle of the village. In the rest of the village is no construction site and nice sites and living.
The municipal of Saanen consist of 5 villages:
Saanen, Gstaad, Schönried, Saanenmöser and Abländschen. Each of them are villages on their on. No worries about the site in Sanen and Schönried. Maybe have a look at GoogleMaps to see things on a map.
What I can't promise is, that there aren't any construction site at any place, because there is possible a road construction or renovation at a building here and there.
