Scandinavia and Iceland Itinerary...Suggestions

I lived in Denmark for many years and am going back now after 15 years. I am planning a two week trip from Washington DC to Scandinavia, with a stopover in the end in Iceland..
Been to Gotheberg and Stockholm and don't want to go there again.
My trip will be through Icelandair, flying out of BWI to KEF to CPH, then immediately off to Trondheim in Norway where I will be visiting a dear friend for four days. After that, I could go to Oslo which I have been to before (been to Bergen and am not particularly interested in going back this time). Or could go to Helsinki for three days or so. Then I need to be in Denmark for 5 nights. Then fly to Reykjavik for three full days then head home to DC.
My questions are:
1-Where should I go between Trondheim and CPH? Oslo (for second time), Helsinki? Or some other place in Norway? Bear in mind that I will be flying so need to be in a not-so-small place...I could also take the ferry from Oslo to CPH which could be fun....

2-In Iceland, I plan to spend some time in Reykjavik but could also head out to a small cottage-farm like place that's close by. Any suggestions? It should not be far away from the capital and if I could get there on a bus or something that would be better since I don't want to rent a car particularly....
