Sarlat house opinions please
http://www.vrbo.com/642160a
Hi...we're considering this place. Can anyone with a knowledge of Sarlat give me an opinion on it. We're looking at taking it for a week, beginning on a Friday, so we'll likely stay in town during the Saturday market.
I'm hoping its in a location close to restaurants and shops, but easy enough to get out of town.
I hope the link opens.
Thanks,

I recognize the view from this apartment, which should be on Rue Fenelon, just inside the walls of Sarlat. The reviews are all very positive, and confirm that everything is as advertised. It's tiny, (31 square metres) but looks clean and well decorated. In fact we have some friends who (I think) stayed there in March). I don't think the listing mentions this, but it is not on the ground floor, and so there will be some stairs to navigate.
You will have to deal with street parking or trying to find a place in the lot just at the top of Rue Fenelon. Depends what time of year you are going. In July and August this could be difficult.
Getting out of Sarlat toward the north (Montignac, Les Eyzies) and to the east, is easy from that location. Heading south, you have to go around town and out, which, again depending on the season, could be time consuming. But there is now a Sarlat by-pass at the south end of town which has taken some of the traffic away.
If you want to be in town, with access to cafes and restaurants, and to walk around Sarlat in the evening when it is lit by gaslight, this is a perfect location.

The office where we picked up the key to the apt. we rented was right there on Fenlon.
You will be able to walk everywhere. We were there in Sept. and parking wasn't difficult. If you couldn't get in a lot you had to drive around sometimes but we didn't find it difficult. By the 2nd day you'll know your way in and out of the city quite easily.
If you are interested in my TR, click on my name and scroll down to TR's. We loved Sarlat and the surrounding area. Many great restaurants are in walking distance from the apt. you chose.

Thanks for replying. We will be there early October, so I'm guessing traffic won't be an issue, and the location seems good.
The price is also attractive, so we'll book it, providing there aren't 50 stairs to climb!
Bookmarked your TR. TPYAP, it's chock full of great info!
Merci
