sardinia or sicily

am taking a trip with family in may to Sicily with a short stop in Rome for about a week. We are wondering if we should spend less time in Sicily and also visit Sardinia. If anyone has any suggestions please respond. thanks

It isn't clear from your message whether your entire trip is only a week long, or whether you stop in Rome for a week, in addition to your Sicily time. If you have a total of only a week, then you need to decide between Sicily and Sardinia. My favorite, for many reasons, is Sicily; but Sardinia is also very nice.

I'm sure I saw this same question with a more complete answer just a couple of days ago. Have you reposted this? You might want to scroll down -- a long way -- to find your original post if so. These days, if you don't receive a post within 24 hours or so, your thread can more to position 300 or so very easily. Unfortunately, the search function doesn't seem to work on newer threads.

But to answer your question, I think I'd stick with Sicily in your case, if as above you have only a week to spend in either place. We will go to Sardinia for the first time this summer, but still returning to Sicily as well. There is so much to do there for a week. If you wanted to venture a little more, how about a day or two on Lipari or one of the other close islands of Sicily? I think Sardinia would deserve at least a week, but probably do it after you have explored Sicily.

I believe that I already posted an answer to this query a couple of days ago. Get to know Sicily well, then go to Sardinia.

Sardinia and Sicily are very, very different. The first one got beautiful beaches, but Sicily got an unbelievable histrory and monuments. In one week you cannot visit both of them: you have to choice depending of your interests

If you are just looking for beautiful beaches and a relaxing atmosphere then I would definately choose Sardinia. I have friends who had a beautiful relaxing vacation there.
