Sarajevo Hotel

I am going to Sarajevo in September. Does anyone know what area of the city to look for a hotel? Any recommendations? I will be arriving by bus from Dubrovnik.

I'm going to be in Sarajevo next week - can't wait!

I thought the best area to stay in was close to the historical centre - the Bascarsija.

There are a couple of pansions actually in the Bascarsija, and I think one hotel.

I am on a tight budget, and have opted for a modestly-priced hotel, at 50 euros a night...

When I made my reservation it was voted No 2 of Sarajevo hotels on tripadvisor. Fatima answers all my emails and her English is excellent. There is secure parking nearby, though there is a charge for this.

I just looked and it's now No 4 on the list, which is here...

Hope this is of some help.

Thanks julia. I just booked the Hotel Michele before I came back to the forum. Please let me know your impressions of Sarajevo as I was not truly excited to go there. My son wants to visit this city. He was actually going to work there several years ago as a Peace Keeper, but they were releasing most of the peace keepers when he was finally accepted. I was glad!

I am bookmarking this thread as Sarajevo is a city I wish to visit.

Scatcat, Have you read the book 'The Cellist of Sarajevo'?

After reading this book I became really interested in the former Yugoslavia. It is a novel but when the war was happening I just couldn't get my head around it and understand it.

I have been to Croatia and Montenegro, Bosnia is next on my list and it was the above book that really piqued my interest.

Enjoy your trip

Thanks cambe. I'll have to get that book. We are actually going to Dubrovnik before Sarajevo. I have never been to either. I have read about and seen a lot of pictures of Croatia, but not so much of Bosnia. I am so picky with food that I worry about going to new places. I tend to go back to my favorites over and over. We will start our trip in Switzerland staying in Wengen. Been there before and I love it.
