Santorini--Honeymoon in May

Ever since I saw the movie "Summerlovers," I have wanted to spend my honeymoon on Santorini. In May, I will finally see this beautiful island with my own eyes. However, I'm having a tough time finding a hotel. We've checked into Katikies, Atantis Villas, Perivolas, Canaves 1. We want to stay on the Caldera, perferably in a 1st class/luxury hotel. Any recommendations?

A couple of years ago we stayed at the Volcano View Villas, which are built into the cliff overlooking the caldera; a more spectacular view I can't imagine. It's considered a 3 star hotel; don't think it would be classified as "luxury", but if you can't get reservations at the luxury ones you want, I don't think you could go wrong with this. The Villas were attractively furnished, clean, and each had its own pvt. patio; an idyllic setting. A free shuttle provided transportation in and out of the main town,Fira, just a mile or so away. Don't choose anything else but Katikies! Believe me, I have been there. It's the best hotel in the island!!!

Hello-I stayed at Perivolas this past sept and thought it was incredible-a lot of honeymooners and the staff is very nice-it has a great relaxed feel and the rooms are cozy with very comfortable beds-beautiful pool-have fun!

A second vote for Perivolas... incredible, and the pool was featured on the cover of Conde Nast.. we looked into it during our stay in October 2000, but opted to stay at a less expensive local... however had we been on our honeymoon you better believe I would have booked Perivolas, I recall I did email them and they sent me a lovely brochure.. but if you are going to book you'd might want to do it asap. The Greek islands book fast from May to June. <BR>

I'm casting another vote for Perivolas as I've stayed there three times and never been dissapointed. Reserve the house at the bottom of the property and with the wonderful secluded deck you will swear it is you, your husband and the caldera.

Sun Rocks Villas in Firostephani is lovely. Request one of their suite rooms. I just loved it when I was there in 1999. It's in a quiet area yet within walking distance of town. Beautiful views of the caldera. We had a huge patio where we would sit and watch the sun set. check out their website: www.sunrocks.gr
