Have started our research for May/June/2011 trip. We will be starting in London for 3 days then on to Umbria for 12days. We would like to visit SML for 3days and need help on the following
1 Private Guide
2 A hotel to back up the Hotel Grand Miramare, We are waiting for a promotional offer before booking.
3 With 3 days what would you recommend to do?
Our hotel in London has been booked, and the Villa in Umbria, thanks to Bob and Slowtrav for that one

So your trip starts in London, continues to Umbria, and ends in Liguria? I assume you fly into London; where do you fly home from? How are you getting between these destinations?
The private guide is for Liguria? Not that much guiding needed along the coast. You can take trains south to the Cinque Terre, north to Camogli and Genoa, walk to Portofino. Do you want a guide for inland?
Grand Miramare is a great hotel. Wish we were there.
you should not need a guide while there as Mimar wrote. Just walk to Portofino and the castle. Lots of restaurants and cafes. And enjoy your hotel.
Flying into London from Vancouver,then London to Pisa with BA.Will drive from Pisa to the villa which is in the Perugia area.Drive from villa to sml then fly home out of Pisa. Yes the guide was for Liguria, however you both agree do it on your own.Any thoughts on a backup hotel?
Are you looking for a less expensive hotel? Does it have to be in SML?
If not, you might consider the Cenobio in Camogli.
The Metropole in SML is also nice but not in the same league as the GH Miramare.
