San Sebastian to Paris

Gudday Fodorites, its been a while since my last visit. ( sounds like an entrée to an AA meeting )
Heres the rough sketch of a plan, beginning of September.
Fly into Barcelona( due to using Emirates) ,two nights ( hotel suggestion near Las Ramblas if you have one.)
Train to San Sebastian,3 night at Hotel Maria Christina ( day trip to Bilbao, bus or local train.)
Train to Biarritz, pick up hire car and get to Saint Emillion ( probably stay at Chateau Grand Barrail unless you wise folk have a better thought) three nights ??
Drive to Amboise for some Loire Valley joy, Chateau De Pray ?? three nights
then drive towards Paris and drop the car off somewhere that we can catch a train into Paris, is Versailles a handy station for this ? Three nights, somewhere in the 7th or the 8th.
5th trip to Paris so we like to try different areas.

Thoughts?, restaurant suggestion particularly for San Sebastian and St Emillion

Many of the best restaurants in the world are in San Sebastián, You have three Michelin star Arzak, Akelarre and Martín Berasategui, and Mugaritz was just voted # 6 on this years list of the World's best restaurants. Five Basque restaurants in top 35 (four US and four French), and two from San Sebastián in top ten: http://www.theworlds50best.com/

But plenty of great "normal restaurants" in San Sebastián also. Parte vieja/Old town classic Urola has been my favourite since the late 80's. New chef, but same sky high standard. http://www.casaurolajatetxea.es/es/portada/
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restauran...e_Country.html

Among the newer places, I can highly recommend La Muralla: http://www.restaurantelamuralla.com/es/
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restauran...e_Country.html

But, as Ferran Adrià (El Bulli) has put it, San Sebastián is the best place to eat in the world "in terms of the average quality of the food, in terms of what you can get at any place you happen to walk into". http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandst...rink.shopping2

All about going for the famous pintxos in San Sebastián, suggested routes etc: http://www.todopintxos.com/home/home.php?lang=en

For a reasonably priced lunch close to St Emillion, you can try L'Auberge Saint-Jean in Saint Jean de Blaignac (www.aubergesaintjean.com) or Bord d'Eau in Libourne.

Le Tertre, in St Emillion, is only open in the evening and on weekends, but has a decently priced menu. Restaurant L'Huitrier Pie, 11 rue de la porte Bouqueyre, should be a good stop for lunch. It's open from noon to 2:00 (www.lhuitrier-pie.net/).

When in San Se, exit the Maria Cristina and cross the river to Gros. Hidalgo 56 is a great pintxos bar and restaurant (chef used to run a 1 star michelin kitchen)

My favourites in Parte Vieja - Zeruko, Goiz, Nestor, La Vina, Martinez, La Cuchara de San Telmo. All these and many others will provide a feast for the eyes and stomach. As kimhe says, Adria has it spot on - it is difficult to eat badly in San Se
