San Sebastian to Barcelona transportation

Although I've done some research I'm still undecided as to the best travel method. I'm traveling with my family- 4 of us and my brother in law- 2 more, for a total of 6 people.

1. My first idea was to rent a van (Mercedes Vito) and drive from San Sebastian to Barcelona (6 hours drive) making a stop in Pamplona. Negative: The rent is more expensive than I thought, around 300 euros- or even more with insurance and extras, and the trip is long. It will take time away from San Sebastian or Barcelona. Positive: Nice drive. Visit Pamplona.

2. Fly from San Sebastian airport- around 85 euros per person plus transportation to airport. We would pay for 4 of those tickets.


3. Take a bus or taxi to Bilbao and fly to Barcelona- around 50 euros plus transportation to Bilbao. I don't know if this is too much of a hassle.

We will stay in Barcelona 3 nights.
