San Sebastian Spain lodging info....

Solo in San Sebastian fore 1 week early Sept. Looking for a hotel very near main beach & restaurants , shops etc. Will not have a car. Would love to have a hotel with a balcony & sea view but reasonable price wise. Is that even possible?
Open for any suggestions,
Thank-you

Take a look at booking.com and then go to the actual hotel site-sometimes one is better than the other.September is still
considered high season so the prices will be up there!

I don't have the link, but there is a large film festival in SS in September.

Always check the hotel for a better rate.

The SS International Film Festival is from 21 to 29 September, which means it's high season.

Two options would be:

Alemana, just 50 meters from the beautiful La Concha beach promenade and as central as it gets. Great value and the best location although no balcony: http://www.hostalalemana.com/

Or stay out in the quiet Ondarreta area at Chomín. 50 meters from the Ondarreta beach, 2 mins to the vibrant and local feel Antiguo area and a 25 min walk along the fabulous La Concha beach promenade to the center and the Parte vieja/Old town (4-5€ taxi ride and frequent buses). I've lived all over small San Sebastián almost every year since the late 80's, and Chomín is probably where I've enjoyed the most, stayed here some 5-6 times. Ask for a room with a balcony fronting C/Infanta Beatriz, sea-view (I think we use to stay at 204). http://www.booking.com/hotel/es/chomin.en.html

The 1st of September starts the yearly week long celebrations of Basque culture known as Euskal Jaiak. The week starts with cider day on Saturday where free cider and food are handed out in the atmospheric Plaza de la Constitución in the middle of the Parte vieja/Old town.

Revulgo posted this earlier about this week of festivities:

"Sagardo Eguna, or cider day --free samples of cider are given in the plaza-- will be celebrated on the first Saturday of September marking the start of a week dedicated to Basque culture known as Euskal Jaiak. Throughout the week there will be various activities organized to showcase the traditions this ancient civilization. There will be local sport exhibitions such as the row boat races, stone lifting and tree trunk cutting. Open air concerts featuring Basque music, traditional dance troupes, local craftsmen demonstrating their time tested techniques and the famous "bersolaris" (oral poets who improvise) are all part of the week long festivities".
