I stayed at the Hotel Kerveli in May 2004 and it was just wonderful - beautiful view, great hosts, nice rooms, good food, pool, beach - cannot say enough good things about it. The new buildings up on the hill are a bit of a climb but the view is incredible and the windows have screens to catch the breezes and keep out the insects. They have a website www.kerveli.gr. Have fun.

We couldn't have been happier than we were at the Hotel Aliki. We somehow thought it was further out from town which had been our one reservation about the place, but we were wrong. Although it faces out to "sea" rather than right on the harbour, it is only a minute or two walk right to the center. Here's a link:

Forgive my sudden burst of stupidity. Why did I think you said Symi? That's where the Aliki is.

In Samos we stayed at the Hotel Aeolis right on the bay and walking distance from the harbour. Nice rooms and wonderfully friendly family running the place.

We are also going to stay at the Aliki when we go to Simi. I've been reading your posts, Patrick, and seem to be following your footsteps around the world. Thanks for your input also, granny.

The two main resorts of Kokkari and Pythagorio are good places to stay. There are plenty of rooms for rent/hotels in both you just have to look around for the location you prefer. Not to be missed is a walk west from Karlovassi to Megalo Seitani along the coast.

In August we stayed at the Ino Village Hotel near Samos Town. The hotel is about 5 minutes drive from the hustle of Samos Town and is located in a nice treed and peaceful area, high on a hill with lovely sea views. The hotel has a good restaurant located on an outdoors terrace with a view to kill for. There are 2/3 tavernas within 10 mins. walk. Staff are friendly. Make sure you ask for an air-conditioned room with a sea-view. If you plan not to have a vehicle there is an excellent taxi service down to Samos Town. We had a rental vehicle for a week and managed to see most of the island in that time. A day trip to Turkey to the Greco-Roman city of Ephesus is a marvellous day out. Wherever you stay we are sure you will love Samos.
