Salzburg itinerary -3 days

Hi All

I plan to visit salzburg from 27th March to 29th March and need some suggestions in the below Itinerary.

Day 1:

Mirabel garden and palace
Residenze square and fountain
Explore the city centre region

Day 2:
1) St gilgen and cable car to top
2) Wolfsgangsee
3) If I complete above two in the first half then I plan to go to hallstat

Day 3
1)Winkler terrace
2)hohensalzburg fortress
3)Palace leopold
4) untersberg- NOt sure if I should do this
5) Mozart places

Questions
1) Please suggest if I should add or remove any of the above places. I don't wish to go on the sound of music tour as I havn't watched the movie.I am a nature lover and visiting salzburg mainly for its scenic views
2) Please suggest some good restaurants in the salzburg region. I am on a budget trip
3) Please suggest if I should take a salzburg card for my day 3 itinerary
4) Please suggest any music concert/event that I can attend

Consider replacing the cable car from St Gilden with the Schafberg Cog Train from Wolfgangsee. We really enjoyed the experience. I guess if you plan on doing the cable car to save time for Hallstat it may make sense. Hallstat is beautiful but not sure if you can really do both Wolfgangsee/Gilden and Hallstat in one day. Can you use part of day 3 to cover Hallstat?

Hard to do - about a couple of hours I'd say from St Wolgang- as good or nicer than St Gilgen and the steam train that goes up a mountain beyond it is awesome too- I too would recommend it over the cable way as mnag does..

You would really get to Hallstatt in time to turn around and head back to Salzburg all by rail (change at Attnang-Pucheim).

For lots of info on the area and transports check www.ricksteves.com and www.budgeteuropetravel.com.

Postal bus from Salburg to St Gilgen then boat to St Wolfsgang would be sweet-I'd focus on St Wolfsgang as a town to have lunch, meander around, etc. I just showed up and bought tickets but that was a few years ago -anyway a public bus.
