Salzburg: Hotel Friesacher
First, thanks to the Fodorites who suggested the Hotel Friesacher...I would never have known of this hotel without you!
We *might* be doing a driving trip to Baden-Baden, Salzburg, Vienna and Regensburg in December. The Hotel Friesacher has offered us a choice of rooms in either the main hotel (145€ per night) or the new garden annexe (160 per night). Rates include breakfasts, parking, etc. Has anyone stayed in the new building? How does it compare to the main building? Our cocker will be with us, if that makes any difference.
Thanks.
(BB and Vienna hotels already picked, but any Regensburg hotel suggestions welcome. Must accept pets and have parking)

This hotel is a good choice in my opinion.
A year- round pool, excelent restaurants ( several) and breakfast buffet.
The underground garage( large -easy parking) offers elevators for direct access to both "old" and "new" room areas.
Great to have the garage in bad weather with a dog too.
Both offered rooms are very nice- the annex room perhaps a little bigger -quiet- brighter - very nicely decorated.
The older rooms still very nice -some rooms face the street
I believe that you would be happy in either.
To me, the annex room is worth the extra euros.
The annex is connected to the original hotel and also has the breakfast buffet room- Perhaps not really an annex as I understand the word.
The hotel is " animal friendly"
Anif is just a small town - easy access from the autobahn and also to the city center.
Just a short walk from the hotel you will find open fields very suitable for a dog to run and play.
Enjoy!

Thanks! Yes, one of the reasons we plan to stay there is the proximity to the woods and fields around Hellbrunn. And we'll probably just eat dinner every night in the hotel to make life easier.
We've tentatively picked the Grand for Vienna, their web site says they accept dogs and they've got some excellent December rates. Plus it's easier access with a car; I like the Style Hotel but don't fancy trying to sort our way through those one-way streets.

BTilke -- I'm thrilled to hear that you are going to give the Hotel Friesacher a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
We stayed in the older section, with a room facing the back and the mountain, but I'd have to believe that the entire hotel is charming. And the staff is so friendly.
Have a terrific visit and let us know what you think of the hotel. I'm not sure if anyone else has ever reviewed the Friesacher on this board, but we absolutely love it. It's where I fell in love with heated bathroom floors!
Auf Wiedersehen!

Re Style Hotel
If access to the Style Hotel is the only reason not to stay there- try this quick and easy access.
Continue on the Ring past the Grand Hotel- past the Museums , parks, parliament, Rathaus.
Just past the University Main Building is Schottentor ( you probably already know the area).
Turn right at Schottentor traffic light on to Schottengasse ( banks are on the corner)- continue on Schottengasse just past Freyung to the blicking yellow traffic light -
turn right on Strauchgasse at this light ( travel bureau and a ladies dress shop on the corner.
Proceed just one block to the first street on the left - Wallnerstrasse ( this is just before the Cafe Central on the right and the rear of the Style hotel on the left).Turn left on Wallnerstrasse.
Then turn right on first street on the right ( again the rear corner of the hotel)
Leopold Figl gasse-
then short block to Herrengasse - turn right to the front door of the hotel.
Underground parking garage is on Herrengasse at Freyung.
Time from the Ring to the hotel perhaps 2-3 minutes.
These streets are not usually extra crowded with traffic with the exception of early mornings.
Enjoy the food at the Friesacher!
Check days when individual restaurants are closed. To me a strange schedule.
