Salzburg at Easter

Jump to last reply

What will be open Easter Sunday and Monday? We had hoped to do Hellbrun and the Salt mines along with the usual tourist things. Also does anyone have a personal guide they like. I'll, 70+ will be traveling with my 14 year old grandson. Thanks in advance

    Most Awesome!

    I am not an expert on Easter in Austria - sorry - but do check carefully with someone who is certain about the issue because there are often local and individual variations which change the "official" picture. I am pretty certain that the entire Easter weekend is a public holiday. This is from the Austrian tourism site for the UK;

    Public Holidays
    2012 2013 2014
    New Year's Day 1st January 1st January 1st January
    Epiphany 6th January 6th January 6th January
    Easter 6th-9th April 29th March-1st April 18th - 21st April
National Holiday 1st May 1st May 1st May
Ascension Day 17th May 9th May 29th May
Whit Monday 28th May 20th May 8th June
Corpus Christi 7th June 30th May 19th June
Assumption of the Virgin Mary 15th August 15th August 15th August
National Holiday 26th October 26th October 26th October
All Saints' Day 1st November 1st November 1st November
Immaculate Conception 8th December 8th December 8th December
    Christmas 25th December 25th December 25th December
Boxing Day 26th December 26th December 26th December

It may be in your best interest to email the Austrian or Salzburg tourist offices specific questions about the specific things you want to do and see.
