Saint Petersburg, Russia
We had a wonderful 2 days in Saint Petersburg on our Baltic cruise. A big thank-you to Percy and everyone who recommended Alla tours. The driver was incredibly knowledgeable and managed to get us by the crowds. It was a jam packed 2 days in overcast skies. We had a hydrofoil ride to Peterhof and a canal cruise thru the city and many stops for palaces and churches. An unexpected highlight was the beautiful restaurant we went to on the second day. The first day was a bag lunch to maximize touring time. My only complaint would be only 2 hours in the Hermitage. It was supposed to be 2 1/2- 3 hours. DH felt it was plenty though. Getting there before it opened up to the public, made for a wonderfully uncrowded experience. Thanks again I would like to return there again.

Actually, we just returned from three weeks in Scandanavia, Estonia and Russia of which we spent four days in St. Petersburg. We did the Hermitage also but spent about 4 hours as we did the Gereral Office (part of many of the buildings that comprise the Hermitage), which houses Impressionist artwork. We also did Peterholf, the Summer Palace and a lot of the churches. I have to say we were very impressed with everything and so happy we went. Ours was a private tour for six and we used Firebird tours and they were also excellent. We were lucky enough to witness the high school celebrations which were fabulous. 800,000 people and the city was closed down for pedestrians only. A sight to see! I would certainly not hesitate to recommend a visit to this city to anyone!

Glad you enjoyed the Alla Tours, I thought they were terrific.
I added to Alla's list of places and we saw them all.

Was at Finland, Estonia and SPb too (november). Don't know Alla-tours, I had Princess cruise. SPb is really beauty. There wasn't so cold at november, so I had fuull sightseeing By the way, familiarized with the nightlife of the city. There are a lot of bars and clubs at city center, like Dumskaya street, Rubinsteina and Lomonosova street. However, the best time I spent at Zavistbar, I came here drunk and crazy with the russian guys and had amazing body shot Also recommend Dead Poets bar, very existential place.
