Safest/cheapest way from Fiumicino Airport to Rome and from Milan to Linate Airport

Hi everybody,

I'm leaving for Italy this Saturday and I was wondering what the safest and cheapest way to get to Rome (near Piazza Spagna) from Fiumicino Airport and from Milan (near Giardini Pubblici) to Linate Airport is.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

Hey,

I've found this...

A direct non-stop train service from Fiumicino Airport Station to Roma Termini Station that runs every 30 minutes (from 6:37 to 23:37), it lasts 30 minutes and it costs 9.50 Euros.

A direct non-stop bus service from Milano Stazione Centrale to Linate Airport that runs every 30 minutes (from 5:40 to 21:35), it lasts 20 minutes and it costs 2 Euros.

I guess that's the answer to my question.

Thanks anyway!

The city bus #73 also goes to Linate. Ask your hotel whether it's closed to a stop.

Hi - is your hotel near the Termini? If not, you will need to take a cab or bus or subway to a stop near your hotel. Check with your hotel. The hotel I stayed at last year arranged a shuttle for me for 12 euro. When I arrived I went to the shuttle desk and was on my way with just a short wait - and I got dropped off at the door of the hotel.

You're asking for the safest and cheapest way but you may want to consider easiest. To me, that would be to take a shuttle. If your hotel can't arrange it, you can do it from home. Do a search here for Rome Shuttle, there are several services that are recommended but I can't think of the names. Some people prefer a cab, which would be more expensive than a shuttle and you would probably get to the hotel quicker since you are the only rider(s). Have a fun trip!

For Milan, I'd check with the hotel and/or have them arrange a shuttle or taxi.

Is there bus service between the Rome airport and Termini? If so, how long and how much, compared to the train? Thanks.

Hi

We took the train service from Rome airport to Termini (the Leonardo Express). We had a hotel near the train station so we could just walk over. If you have a hotel near Piazza Spagna you can take the metro from Termini. I think that it is only a couple of stops away. I have posted a trip report with pictures and links from my trip to Rome on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com/rome_italy.htm . Maybe you can find some useful info there.

Regards
