Sachenhausen neighborhood hotels?

We'll be two nights in Frankfurt and want to stay in the Sachenhausen neighborhood. All the on-line websites seem to show the same expensive hotels or seedy hostels. Surely there must be some local lodging near restaurants, walkable to the train/metro... Does anyone know of a different method to find such places? We travel in mid September.

Are you using www.hrs.com to find hotels?

If they are expensive, then there must be a trade fair going on. What are your dates of travel?

There are no seedy hostels in Sachsenhausen nor in Frankfurt that I have run across. They may be in an unsavory neighborhood, but the hostels are usually very nice and clean.

Take a look at the Maingau hotel, Lindner Hotel & Residence, or Hotel am Berg.

Is there a reason you want to stay in Sachsenhausen? There are hotels in some of the residential neighborhoods in Frankfurt to stay in. Alexander am Zoo in Bornheim, Hotel Beethoven, Hotel Goelz or Dirazi Guesthaus in Westend for example.

Ah, I missed the mid-September part of your post. The IAA is going on from 17-27 Sept. and you will be hard pressed to find an affordable room. Even a week before that will see a scarcity of rooms as set-up for this giant fair takes a while.

Your only chance is to get a room using Frankfurt.de touriss office.

Thanks Mainhatten girl. We'll be in Frankfurt 9/13-9/15. We chose this neighborhood because it seemed to have more bohemian flavor-we don't want to be city center but want nice walking and small locals restaurants. I'll try the HRS website.
