We have driven to Greece before via the ferry in Brindisi and would love to be able to drive without the use of a ferry this summer. We have driven as far south as Dubrovnik, Croatia on another summer trip. The route I have found takes us through Zagreb, to Beograd in Serbia, then south through Macedonia and finally into Thessalonika.
Has anyone done this trip with their auto before? Is driving through Serbia okay? Or would you recommend a different route? I have heard the roads through Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria are not in that great of condition (however, that was from a friend who did it in 2009...so much could have improved.)
Looking forward to your suggestions. Our starting point would be near Salzburg. This is with our own car. We are wanting to spend most of our holiday time in Greece, so would prefer a faster route for this holiday.

loomi, I'm sorry I can't give you a good answer, but I believe it's still not possible to travel directly from Serbia into Kosovo if your route takes you that way. I don't know about Serbia, but the road conditions in Kosovo are not very good.
