Hi -
I'm traveling to Italy for the first time in March, staying in Rome and then taking the train to Venice. I've checked the trenitalia.com site to find out about trains from Rome to Venice, but can't seem to find out what the fare is, just the timetable. Thanks to everyone for help I've gotten on this board in planning my trip - can you now tell me about what the fare will be between Rome and Venice? From what I've read on this board, I'll wait until I get to Rome to purchase my ticket for travel 3 days later.
Thanks,
Martha

Very interesting. I also checked the German system and they say fare is not avaliable.
I checked Raileurope.com and their prices are a little higher than you should pay in Rome.
First class was US85 and 2nd class US59. It's a Eurostar train. We took 2nd class from Rome to Naples and it was fine. No need to spend extra for first class for a 4 1/2 hour train ride.
I don't know if you're aware. You don't need to go to the train station to buy your tickets.
When facing the Spanish Steps, if you walk about 50 yards to the right there's an American Express office. You can purchase train tickets there.
Martha, The answer is 67E first class and 45E second class on Eurostar. Just click on the train you like and the price appears on the 2nd page.
