Rome to Capri-Day Trip?

We have our last day in Rome open for day trip. Is Capri even an option? We'll be in Rome October 2-6. Thought about taking helicopter down coast and train back. Any suggestions?

Where do you board the helicopter in/near Rome?

Have you thought about taking the fast train from Rome to Naples and back? It takes just over an hour, and will save you so much money!! From Naples, you'd take a cab to the port, then boat/hydrofoil to Capri. Just make sure to check schedules carefully, as they do reduce the schedules at some point in the fall. Also check carefully for return schedules. Not sure when the last boat comes back to Naples or Sorrento. Good luck!

Were you thinking Capri by ferry or Amalfi Coast by train or all of it by helicopter!

If you can afford a helicopter trip, why not?

I'm pretty sure that you know you can't access the Amalfi Coast by train.

Love to know the cost of the helicopter trip.

4 to 5K seems ridiculous for a day trip. I could take an entire holiday in Capri, at a luxury hotel, for that much money.

However, it's your money.

Tuscanlifeedit is right. I also assumed the OP knew that you can take the train only to Sorrento and ferry or bus down the AC or to Salerno and ferry or bus back up the AC. I thought the OP meant to train to or from Salerno and do a helicopter ride along the AC.

Personally, if the AC is that much of a priority, why not take a day and night from Rome, spend the night in Sorrento and spend a day seeing the AC. As others have said, be sure of ferry schedules. The AC from the water is lovely.
