Looking for suggestions for day trips from Rome either taking trains or buses.
Also is there any suggestions for the 4 days in Rome, I would prefer a liesurely paced daily approach based on the differences of ages. Any suggestions appriciated

Ostia Antica is a town of Roman ruins similar to Pompeii and easily accessible by local commuter train from Rome.
Not sure if you will visit other places in Italy, but for a taste of a scenic hill town, you might enjoy Orvieto, which is accessible by Trenitalia, about an hour away, with a station at the foot of the hill town. There is a funicular (sometimes under repair) or a bus you can take up the hill to the center of town. Very scenic, with fun ceramics shopping, a few museums, a magnificent main church, and an interesting underground tour--a little bit for everyone.
We just went to Villa dE'ste andvHadrian's Villa- both great.
Orvieto is tomorrow and OA ltr this week....will report
bigwalley,
the standard way to get to Tivoli is by bus. you might like to contact one of the tour companies like context to see if you could do a mini-bus tour just for your group seeing there are so many of you.
whereas to Orvieto, the way to go is by train - very easy, pretty cheap.
For things to see in Rome, apart from the obvious, the galleria doria Pamphilj is lovely and remarkably un-busy. Excellent for a group.
hope you enjoy Orvieto and Ostia, Denise!
