Rome Restaurants near Piazza Navona
Hi - I am planning to be in Rome for several nights at the end of June with extended family. Would like some ideas for restaurants within walking distance of Piazza Navona. Ideally places that can accommodate our large group (16) which doesn't mind kids (youngest in our party is 10). Thank you!

In 1997 we had great meal outdoors on Piazza Navona at a restaurant called Ciampla’s. Three years ago we went back, and found that Ciampla's had been renamed Tucci’s. It's located at 98 Piazza Navona, pretty much right across from St. Agnes Church. We loved eating outside there, especially with all the lights in the evening. I hope you find something you like.

I've gone here twice and only wish I'd discovered it sooner - it's now on my list for every future visit to Rome.
This is a perfect option - much closer than JP's recs - it's just a few block off Piazza Navona on Via dei Coronari.

Solid food choices for all, including the 10 y/o. Not cheap, but an incredible value nonetheless - and a very relaxed, easygoing place to enjoy a (sublime) meal.

A large restaurant, very tolerant, in the right neighborhood for you is La Campana. The food is delicious (critics and food bloggers recommend it) and they can easily accommodate a large group. You will need a reservation.
Jynx: do you think Cul de Sac would be good for 16?
bardo: ditto for San Gallo?

Cul de sac is wonderful but not for 16 people-it has seating outside for around 10 and small booths inside (think small aisle galley style). It is great for getting a bottle of wine and light meals but I don't think that they would seat 16 of you and tie up the restaurant.
You are definitely going in high season so be sure to make a reservation and go earlier in the evening/possibly before 7pm if possible .

You might consider this restaurant a short walk away at the Campo de' Fiori *esp* if you can book the basement room which is in the ruins of the 'Theater of Pompey' (55BC).
I have not eaten there but a post or two on tripadvisor.com mentioned this section can be booked for groups?
Ristorante Da Pancrazio
Piazza del Biscione 92 (just off the northeast corner of Campo de' Fiori)
tel. +39-06-686-1246

Closed Wednesday

The modern restaurant is at the bottom of the photo to the left of the large center structure (temple) in the curved seating -(( Based on the ground level at the opposite end (mentioned below, 'Curia') which is visible today in this theater complex.
I think it very safe to assume that basement room in the restaurant is within (inside, past) one of the many entrances located on the leftside.
Although not likely an entrance corridor to the actual theater seating it was more likely one of the many dead-end rooms which were actually vaulted voids used to support the seating.
But with a column found there it was likely accessable (or at least viewable) for some purpose to the theater people.
A shop? Take-away food? Statues? Waiting area for the aristrocrat's slaves? Or just an empty void that you would pass in the curved corridor -((= like at the Colosseum?

The Curia Pompey is actually where Julius Caesar was assassinated and it is the bldg in the upper center of the photo with the portico attached to each side ====[x]==== and the 4 Temples in the Largo di Torre Argentina above it.
