Rome, Positano, Florence to Venice for Honeymoon

Rome, Positano, Florence to Venice for Honeymoon
Going to Rome, Positano, Florence to Venice in May 2015 for Honeymoon. About 3-4 days at each place. Any travel tips, transportation advice (getting from Rome to Positano, Positano to Florence, Florence to Venice) would be greatly appreciated. We are in our late 20's. Thanks!

My first tip would be to fly into Venice and fly out of either Naples or Rome. Or the reverse, although you may find that flights out of Venice leave very early in the morning. Unless your departure for home is late in the day, you should spend your last night in/near the city of your departing flight.
You can train to all of your destinations except Positano. How you deal with the transfer from Naples to Positano depends a lot on how much you can afford to spend. There are public transportation options, taxis and private transfer services.

You don't really have to go to Naples to get to Positano; you can also train from Rome to Salerno, then get a transfer to Positano.
I would put the buses from Sorento or Salerno to Positano at the very bottom of my list.
Private transfer is the easiest, but I would probably also consider a boat from Sorrento or Amalfi.
This may all be beside the point if you plan on a private transfer.
Whatever why you get to Positano, you have to get back north, so leave some time in your schedule for these transfers.
I guess I would train from Salerno or Naples to Florence.
Then train to Venice. Unless you want to reverse the order which I think is a good idea (into Venice and out of Rome).

Well I'd certainly take the train for these and a bus or boat to get to Positano.
Two ways to Positano by train from Rome - train to Naples Centrale then get the Circum Vesuviana commuter train to Sorrento, then go by bus or boat if in season to Positano.
Or take a train from Rome to Salerno then go by bus or boat (in season) to Positano from there - this route may take a bit longer but you see the whole of the dramatic Amalfi Coast up to Positano.
The going back go via Naples or Salerno direct trains to Florence (about 3.5 hours) and Florence to Venice.
Check www.trenitalia.com for discounted tickets and Italo Tren, a competitor on the Naples-Rome-Florence routes - discounted tickets are sold in limited numbers so much be booked way early to guarantee and then cannot be changed nor refunded I believe. You can always buy full fare tickets IME up to the train as there are so so many trains on those routes - worst would be you'd have to go first class and that is my advise anyway if on the trip of a lifetime and carrying typically too much luggage.

Seems from another thread that disruptions on Salerno-Amalfi-Positano buses are always possible due to rock/mud slides, strikes, etc. Ask at Salerno about the buses running the regular routes before boarding - friends of mine weren't old until they go to Amalfi that buses to Positano were not running except infrequently on a round-about route that took two hours.
