Does Rome offer a small store similar to an alimentaire in France? (kind of a 'convenience store' for beer, wine, snacks, etc). We're staying by Trevi...

Most areas of Rome are at least semi-residential, so you will find what you're looking for, or a good substitute.

But also look for the good cheese sellers, bakeries, wine shops etc. You'll be too far from the famous Volpetti (Formaggiomania) in Testaccio, but should you be in the area, stop in. Great bread, cheese, meats, wine and all the other drinks you could want, including diet sodas. Great place to put together a picnic or easy dinner in your room after a tough day of sightseeing.

Someone may come along here who knows something on that line near the Trevi. Rome is a food town, obviously; you won't have to look too far.

There are numerous shops of several types.

1. small neighborhood food shops (alimentiere (sp?)) with a little bit of everything. These are scattered all about here and there - never too far away from wherever you are.

2. specialty food shops (cheese, deli, etc), which will offer a small selection of other items

3. small chain market (SPAR, Punta, etc) with a broader selection, including a deli, meats, fruits, etc. There is a SPAR right at Torre Argentina - quite close to Trevi - and likely another similar market not too far away in one direction or another.

Has anyone shopped in the <u>Autogrill</u> on via del Corso? I've been in those many years ago along the roadside - lots of variety to eat there or for snacks, picnics.. Wonder if this one is similar.
