Rome hotel: Selva Candida-- great hotel!

Prior to our trip to Rome, I read the reviews of Hotel Selva Candida & got the feeling that the owner was writing all the reviews. They were all so positive. Having now been there, I can honestly say this place is a winner!

For those visiting central Rome, I would expect it's a bit of a hassle to get in to town to visit the sights-- it's out near the loop road. For us, it worked out great-- we flew in late at night & stayed there only 1 night as we were going up to Umbria for several days.

The street outside is rather busy & the hotel can be difficult to find-- even with a GPS. But, the hotel & the grounds are extremely nice. Nice, quiet location (although the loop road can be heard in the distance from the hotel). The lobby & rooms are decorated nicely.

Rooms are a good size & very clean. Beds & bathrooms are rather large and the beds are comfortable. They had satellite TV with many stations. Didn't use the Internet-- so I can't say anything about I'net access (in lobby or via WIFI).

Breakfast was good & included in the price of the room. Meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, cereal, juices, coffee, etc. available daily. The dining room was quite nice, too.

The staff were very nice to us. They were very responsive to our e-mail questions & requests. And, they were professional & nice to us while at the hotel (one woman came out of her office to bring a soccer ball to my young son while we were playing on the lawn-- very nice of her!).

All in all, we were very pleased with our stay at Selva Candida. If you are arriving late to the airport & planning to continue on to Umbria or Tuscany-- this hotel is ideal. If you're staying here & going in to Rome... I suspect that it might be a bit of an effort to get in to town & there are probably better options closer in.
