I have reservations for a week at Hotel San Francesco in the Trastevere area of Rome. There are many great recommendations for this spot on the Forum - but also a few very negative. When I checked it out on Google Earth the buildings on the street seemed to be under construction and there was much grafitti. Does anyone have a recent photo of this hotel and/or the block its on? I like lively colorful areas but I would like it to be pretty and charming as well.
Thanks for any input.

Trip Ideas
Stayed there 3 weeks ago. Typical small European rooms but clean with newer large bathrooms and very helpfull english speaking front desk people. Building across the street is under repair and there is a little grafitti on walls in the area but not on the hotel itself We walked each night we were there to various restaurants in the area with no problems at all. Super market close by for various snacks etc. and lots of little places to eat and people watch.
I do have a picture of the outside of the hotel but being computer "dumb" I don't know how to send.
Would stay there again.
Post your email and I can send a pic that way
Hotel San Francisco is a small hotel located about 2 blocks from the "gate" entrance to the Porta Portese Sunday Market. It's on the opposite side of the Viale Trastevere from many of the "sites" in that part of town but easily accessible! Much of Rome (especially Trastevere) has graffiti so I wouldn't worry about appearances. It's a safe, quiet, and convenient area and you should enjoy your stay. We walk this way often on our way to the market on Sundays. Have fun!

I booked a cousin through there last summer with my old friends at Italian Collection. We had really nice results and a happy cousin and of course the location is just great....and the rooms are quite nice. Glad to hear they were still holding up as little as 3 weeks ago!
