Rome: Hotel Romano Feedback

It's a 2* hotel directly across the street from the Roman Forum.
I've already gone thru the reviews on Tripadvisor and Venere but I'd like a 1st hand Fodorite review if possible.
Regards, Walter

I typed in "hotel romano" in the search field at the top of this page and found several mentions about the hotel You might want to try that too. Here's 2 comments from 2 different trip reports:

Hotel Romano
I would also highly recommend this hotel. It was pretty and clean and near ancient rome (5 minutes from the Colloseum and we could see the forum if we stuck our head out the window) which we found to be a perfect location.

HOTEL ROMANO- I stayed two nights here in a single with private bath. (80e /night). The room was very small, but also very clean and secure. The best part of the Romano was the location (right next to the Forum at the end of Via Cavour) and the staff of the hotel (all the people at the front desk spoke English, were very polite, gave restaurant recommendations, lent umbrullas when it rained and hailed cabs for me). This place isn?t fancy, and there are no elevators so you have to carry your bags up the stairs. But I thought it was a good price for the location, cleanliness and great service. The windows are very thick, so it?s nice and quiet at night. And my room had a great view of the Forum.

Hi Walter,

I don't know when you are planning to go, but I also considered the Hotel Romano. My concern was the location which I know is a very busy one!

I chose the Hotel Giardino Rome. A 2** in about the same area, but on a different street. They have been extremely helpful and prompt in answering e mails.

We will have to both file trip reports on these hotels. I'm going in 4 weeks.

Buon viaggio!

Thanks everyone . I was just hoping for a '1 on 1' with someone who has stayed there and hopefully recently.
Their new elevator was supposed to be completed in June and I wanted to see if it was up and running. After a long day of moving horizontally I just don't have the energy to go vertical .
Plus 2 complaints on TV reception? I just love my spaghetti-westerns in the original Italian . Plus I might be going in January , so I'll want the weather the night before to plan my day.
Regards, Walter

Hi again Walter,

I'll probably be walking right past the Romano, so I'll check it out and report back for you.

January should be a good time for Rome!
