Rome cruise disembarkation question

Jump to last reply

We are looking at a cruise that reports getting back into to Rome (Civitavecchia) at 7:00 AM (but the cruise company says that people actually start getting off the ship at 8:00 AM). They say that for their cruise-assistance airport transfers, a 12:45 PM or later flight out of Rome is advised, otherwise getting to the airport is completely on your own and at your own risk. The flight we would need to take leaves at 11:45 AM. Getting back on time is a big priority for us as we do have some commitments at home to attend to.

Has anyone run into a similar issue, and is getting to the airport from the cruise port more complicated than we are expecting? Any suggestions of the minimum earliest time we need to be at the airport prior to the flight? We obviously don't want the stress of getting to the airport and making the flight negating a hopefully otherwise relaxing trip.

I can repost the question on the cruise forums, but I'm told this one is more active. Thanks in advance.
