Rome Car Rental Villa Borghese

Everything is set for my May trip to Rome/Tuscany/Venice but I am second guessing going to Chuisi to pick up the car and drive to Pienza---we would need to take an early train to get to the car rental place before it closes on a Saturday and, with Hertz, the return to Venice would be a lock box drop off.

I can rent for $50 less from AutoEurope (EuropeCar), pick up the car at the Villa Borghese location late morning or afternoon and take a leisurely drive to Tuscany. I think I had read that location was an easier one in terms of getting out of Rome. Can also drop the car in Venice--not a lock box since they have longer hours than Hertz.

Question is, anyone have experience getting out of that Rome location? Is it really that hard on a Saturday mid day?

Thanks for your input!

Kathy

I would share your concern. We have driven from that location and it was not bad at all. Just be sure to print the routing from viamichelin and do not trust the instructions from the agent. Follow all signs for A-1 and Firenze.

Better still, buy yourself a GPS unit, and you never have to worry about getting lost.We went to Malaga last year and spend the extra 5 Euros/ day or a GPS in our rental car. Thank God, we would have never found our way past all the round/abouts. So when I got home that was the first thing I bought Mine is about the size of a deck of playing cards.
It can be used in pedestrian mode also. Great for navigating the small crooked streets of Venice and central Rome

So you can buy one here to take there? Nothing special with systems, etc?
Thanks, Kathy
