Rome apartment

Hi,

We are a young couple in our 30s. We are very active and do not mind stairs.

Our first criteria is location. We would want something close to Piazza Navona. Second, we are looking for a very clean apartment with ironed and clean linens (have had a bad experience last time in Rome).

We have shortlisted a few apartments and would like feedback on what might be the best apartment for us.

- http://www.vrbo.com/108288 (this does not have air con)

Please help us decide.

Thanks a lot!!

I stayed in the VRBO 108288 apartment as the one my husband and I like to rent was not available. The owner is a lovely woman who responded in a timely manner, lives in the building and the location was fine.

We found it he apartment to be very dark as there are no windows in the living room. The bathroom was in bad condition with many dirty rags left on the floor to help soak up the water that would pour out onto the floor with each shower and the kitchen just a space to stand in and not equipped for any food prep. Fortunately we only needed a fridge. The sheets were not ironed and I am not sure you will find this in any apartment rental. The furnishings are old, rather dreary but functional. Would I stay there again? No as I have stayed in better apartments. I took a very quick look at the Rome-accommodation which looks better. I hope my reply helps you .

Just looked at the VRBO 340231 apartment and it looks really nice and bright and has very good reviews. That one looks like a winner and so different from the other VRBO one which unfortunately was dark and dingy.

Thanks a lot lowcountrycarol. This really helps.I often wonder how these places get 178 raving reviews. Do other people not want the same level of cleanliness? We stayed in one of the green or blue apartments at residenza giubbonari. The owner is a great women, excellent location and everything. However the cleaning could have been a lot better (though it was still a lot better than what you describe). The bed linens it seemed were from a different generation.

Anyways I was also more inclined towards the Rome-accommodation apartment, as it seems like the only apartment which at least in the picture shows ironed white linen.

Why do you feel that the third apartment is beget than the other two? In terms of location which one do you feel is better.

Had anyone else stayed in the two other apartments.

Also lowcountrycarol could you please recommend some of the good apartments that you have stayed in? For a really great place we would be happy to spend 200euros/night.

We stayed at Palazzo Olivia (sp). Had 1 bdrm apt. great , quiet, good location. short walk to piazza navona and campo de' fiori (good Market) It was relatively inexpensive when we stayed there. Several years ago. prices have prob. gone up, but check it out. couldn't get a better location.

We stayed here in April. Great location, a bit dark inside but fully equipped. Nice people to work with, another Fodorite stayed there on my recommendation and another one will stay there in future.

Thanks everyone for your responses.leuk2 could you please give the link to the apartment that you are talking about. It is quite a last minute trip so availability is an issue.

DebitNM it is reassuring to know that you have used Rome-accommodation and have been happy with it. We to are leaving towards renting from them. All my interactions with them till now have been really good.

Could anyone please suggest if there are reasons why we should consider the 3rd apartment over the Rome-accommodation one.

Thanks again.
