Rome airport transfers and Time Elevator Questions - from "Layover in Rome with 4 kids" - follow up post
Hi,
Answers to my previous thread were tremendously helpful in planning our quick and fun visit to Rome this summer. It is a one day visit, a layover en route home from NY.
Two specific questions:
1. Many recommended the airport shuttle direct from FCO to our first destination, the Forum/Colosseum. Others, the Leonardo Express to Termini, and taxi to our site. We are two adults, and 4 kids under the age of 12. I think that the Leonardo express will be cheaper, but would appreciate any advice you have including prices/web sites for booking. Also, if shuttle, which company? Prices?
Second question: What is the Time Elevator Roma? Is it worth a visit with kids ages 9 and 11? We plan to be in the area of Piazza Navonna after the colosseum visit and I thought it might be good (and air conditioned) for the kids.
Thanks for all the amazing help!!
Laurie

Children under 12 travel free on the Leonardo Express if accompanied by an adult. So your total fare would be 22 Euro.

We did the Time Elevator-our kids were 15, 13 and 10 at the time. They enjoyed it. It seems pretty lame to be spending time and money on a Disneyesque ride/show while in Rome. However, for all my efforts, I was not able to get the kids to look through books about Rome before our trip and Time Elevator gave them an entertaining crash course in Roman history.

The Time Elevator was schlocky (is that a word?), but it gave our kids a brief summary of the history of the area. As missypie said, we also felt totally touristy to be doing this little ride in Rome, but I'm glad we did. It was near where we stayed, took a short time, was fun and gave a good intro to Rome.
