We are looking for family accommodation in Rome for mid June. I am overwhelmed by the information and number of booking agencies on the internet. I have also noticed prices quoted for B&B's and apartment rentals through the above agencies are substantially cheaper than hotel costs. The pictuers and descriptions look fabulous over the internet- especially those offered through Vacanze Romane ( air conditioned apartments accommodating 2 adults and 2 small children for $150 USD.) Is this too good to be true?
I did contact one B&B that had its own independent web page. I was told they had suitable accomodation (complete again with pictures)for L260.000. When I asked (very politely) for more details and guest references, I received an e-mail saying that "fussy people like myself will only find trouble in life" and that the suite was no longer available. I took that to be an indication that the suite was not of the standard described on the web page. I am now quite concerned about booking this type of accommodation unless I am certain that I am dealing with a reputable agency. Do you have any input or suggestions?

Rome accomodation: has anyone booked through realrome.com or vacanze romane?

I would not under any circumstances book a hotel on the internet. Way too risky! The Italians hardly even know what the internet is! Besides, there's no way you are going to find any family accomodation in June at this time. You should have booked two years ago. tsk tsk. You should realize that every rich American and travel obsessed retard is going there in June.
