Rome - Apartment San Salvatore in Campo (Campo dei Fiori)

Hi,

I am going to be visiting Rome with my wife and we are trying to decide on an apartment.

We are thinking of this one, listed in both these places:
http://www.sleepinitaly.com/files/apt_sscampo.html
http://www.b-b.rm.it/accommodations/desc.php?id=380

I searched this message board and couldn't find anything on it or any reviews on slowtrav.com. I was wondering if any has stayed at it and can offer any feedback?

Thanks!

I am also in the process of looking for a Rome apartment. The sleepinitaly listing looks cute but it is on the fifth floor NO lift.....that's sixth floor American. I don't think I could muster enough energy at the end of a day of sightseeing to drag myself up all those flights of stairs.

Agree with above poster, unless you are 16, 6 flights of stairs is WAY too much to deal with on a daily basis. You wouldn't have enough "legs" left to walk around Rome.

Yah, that would be a lot of steps...but the terrace looks so nice. I haven't seen any other apartments with a terrace with a view of the city.

My husband and I are in our 50's (me early, him late) and we rented a 6th floor Rome apartment last Christmas. Wouldn't recommend the place to anyone (we called it the hole to give you an idea) but didn't mind the stairs too much. The altitude kept us away from street noise.

My wife and I are in our mid-20s although not in very good shape (we both have desk jobs and a fairly sedentary lifestyle). We really should start shaping up for the trip though, looks like there is lots to see in Rome and lots of walking to be done!

Hi beaupeep,
Any idea how many steps were involved in 6 flights?

Thanks!

Gosh no! A lot. But tonight when I go home to my 4th floor apt (US 5th) I will count the stairs. I used to live in the North End of Boston on a 5th floor walk-up and not only carried my laundry and groceries but my bicycle. And I was in my 30's, so if you're in your 20's I would think you could do this. The apartment is lovely and I've bookmarked it for our next Rome trip!

Best view from an apartment in Rome I reckon must be the one from here:

In general, there are usually 20-22 steps per floor. High ceilings/older building could be 25+. 5th in Europe floor is 5 floors up from ground, plan 100-125 steps up each time.
