Rome - an extra special place to stay
Hi Everybody,
My partner and I will be ending our 3.5 week trip to France/Italy in Rome in late Sept. We are staying in middle priced accomodation (nothing extravagant)along the way so I'd like to cap off the trip with a place just that little more indulgent in Rome.
Our budget is around 200 Euro per night. We must be centrally located so walking and kicking back in the heart of Rome is no issue.
Appreciate your suggestions.

How long will you be there? You might look at "special" as being an apartment. I agree that $200 won't get you much in Rome. But for that price you can get a nice apartment if staying at least three or four days or better if for a week. Unless you're hung up on room service or other services, an apartment might be a very welcome change from the cramped hotels you will probably be in the rest of the trip, and will seem like luxury regardless of the furnishings and details. Look at www.palazzo-olivia.it, for example.

The Pantheon de Sole.(www.hotelsolealpantheon.com)
i havent stayed here but this place REALLY caught my eye. it might be a few $$ higher than your range, but looks worth it to me.
"Dating back to 1467, Hotel del Sole al Pantheon is the oldest in Rome, and has the blessing of holding a prime location: looking across the ancient Piazza della Rotonda to one of Rome's masterpieces, the Pantheon, which was standing before the birth of Christ."
personally- I booked an apt. in Trastevere.

The only place I know of where you can get something special for the price is near Termini so it's not too centrally located. Hotel Canada is a VERY nice hotel, located in a more touristy area it would run at least twice as much at the €158-188 they charge.
If you don't mind walking (walks are not excessive; we rarely take public trans in Rome except when going to Vatican), I'm sure you'll like theplace. I've stayed there more times than I can remember now.
