What is the best form of transportation along the romantic road? Also, I know about Fussen, Wurzburg, Rothtenburg...but what other cities should be stopped at? How much time should be set aside to travel it? Also are there any reccommended outdoor actities along the road (or within a short distance) that should be tried, i.e., bungy jumping, or the like? Basically what are the unforgettable experiences along the Romantic Road?

My most unforgettable experience was the time I met Helga Moser at a Bierstube in Dinkelsbühl. Ahh - what a woman she was. Every man's German fantasy come true...

Seriously - if you type "Romantic Road" in to the forum search engine you will get literally hundreds of comments and responses to similiar questions from experienced travelers. I gues it would depend on your luggage. While I like bavariaben's idea about the MB clk- an Audi TT would be lots of fun. But any car will do if you want to enjoy the freedom of this beautiful road.
Rothenburg o.d.T is by far the most popular and for good reason.

Near the Neuschwanstein castle is the Tegelberg Gondola. They have a luge there that's fun and you can hang glide off the top of the mountain.

IMO, driving is the best option. There are bus routes along it, but you are somewhat limited in your options. Driving is easy, with no large towns, and the route is well marked. It can be driven in a day, with a few stops, or obviously you can take longer. IMO, the northern half has prettier towns. We did stop at Landsberg on the southern stretch - that is a nice town. I enjoyed Bad Mergentheim, which is near Rothenburg - not very touristy, but very pretty. Dinklesbuhl and Nordlingen are walled towns similiar to R-Burg, and are worth a look. Rothenburg at sunset and night, walking along the walls was an unforgettable experience.

I believe the Andech's monestary is along the southern part of the route - where they brew that fabulous beer We enjoyed the Andechs beer in Munich and then when we got home, we realized we were very close to the brewery and monestary later in our trip - I believe it was not far from the romantic road.

I second the recommendation for the luge ride at the base of the Tegelbahn - so much fun. The tram to the top of the mountain looked fun too, but we didn't go for it.
