Roma Pass Question
Do the transportation and museum entry portions of the Roma Pass run concurrently? For example, if I were to use the Roma Pass for a museum on a Monday and not use it for transportation until Tuesday, would the transportation expire the day after the museum portion expired? Thanks!

The Roma Pass is two separate cards, both with scan strips/codes. I'm not sure how well the computer system tracks usage (don't know if the scan codes are interlinked somehow), but the pass says it expires at midnight on the 3rd day after your first use. There is a place on the card where you are supposed to write-in your start date. I didn't attempt to use either after expiration, but I would think the system would block your entrance since all bus/metro transportation uses the same type of cards for entrance. If you want an extra day of transportation, you can always buy a one day pass for 4€. If you try it, let us know how it turns out.

The museum card is a hard plastic card. The transportation card looks just like any other metro/bus paper ticket that you stick in a turnstyle. When you buy a Roma Pass, you are given a packet which contains both cards, a map of Rome and a booklet about all of the museums, etc. The price of the pass is increasing 1/1/09 to 23E.

Has anyone here successfully used the two cards on different 3-day periods?
Also, what's the discount on additional museums after the 2 free ones? Their website says "...entitles holders to:free admission to the first two museums and/or archaeological sites visited, full access to the public transport system, <b>reduced tickets and discounts for any other following museums and sites visited, as well as exhibitions, music events, theatrical and dance performances and all other tourist services</b>", but I can't find any details on that.

If I recall, the discounts were posted at each entry site. They varied, to the best of my memory.
About using the two separate cards on different days: Since they are sold as a package for a specific three day period, it is my guess that those are the three days that each separate pass are good for. But it is just a guess.

I just returned from Rome and bought the Roma Pass. It was a great deal, especially since I went to a ton of museums. If you go on the museums websites, and look under admission prices, the reduced price they list (usually for seniors, students, etc) is the discounted price you will pay with you Roma pass. Like other posters said, the transportation pass is separate and the 2 do NOT have to run concurrently. So the 3 days you use the transportation pass does not have to be the same as the 3 days you use the Roma musuem pass. Hope this helps.

Mfifi - I have all the info about the discounts and how much they are and can look them up for you tomorrow. Are there any particular ones you want to know about? It's quite lengthy so I don't want to try to post the entire list.

For the art/cinema/theater etc. start at page 4 on this link. It's alphabetical - Art pages 4-9, Cinema page 10...

The museums discount list is no longer on the website. I do have printed out copies I can locate tomorrow and post. It's divided into categories - archaelogical, contemporary, modern, scientific. Are you interested in all?

I found the reduced prices on each museum's site.
How do you use the discount for theaters if the tickets have to be purchased in advance? 20% of at the opera house would be great, but seats will probably be sold out by the time I get there.
