My husband and I are planning to take our newborn to Rome before she turns 1 year old. Our biggest concern is what type of stroller she will need. We are very concerned about her bumping around on the cobblestone streets of Rome. Should we bring a bulky BOB Revolution stroller that handles bumps well AND can turn corners well? Would the ride of a sleeker umbrella stroller (even a sturdy one) be too bumpy for a baby?
Our thinking is that inflatable tires and shocks are a must for her stroller, but those come at a price (literally). Not to mention that those types of strollers are always bulkier.
I know streets can be narrow and space at a premium, but we plan to do a lot of walking and want our little one to enjoy the ride.
If you live in Rome, can you give me advice on what type of strollers are in use there? If you've taken a baby to Rome, what worked for you?
Thanks so much all for your consideration!

This doesn't really answer your question about strollers, but I saw quite a few parents carrying their babies in those "holders" that can cuddle the baby at the front, or on the back, if your daughter is too big for the front ones. Baby and parent looked quite comfortable and no concerns about jolting, taking up too much space, etc. (Wish they'd been around in 'my day'!)

Enjoy your travels.
I can't recall seeing many strollers in central Rome, but wouldn't advise taking a big one on any European trip. They are a nuisance in lots of places to other people and would be a pain for you to transport. If you are using public transport at all, folding and carrying a stroller, even an umbrella type, while also managing the baby and bags can be a feat. I can't imagine doing it with a huge one.
We took our 18 month year old around Greece with an umbrella type one (the path to Cape Sounion is very rough) and he did not seem to mind the bumps at all. Babies are more hardy than you think!
