Road trip itinerary starting in Switzerland - help please!

Jump to last reply

I'll be attending a wedding in July in Gstaad, Switzerland which is about 90km from Bern. My friends and I are planning to go on a 5-6 day road trip after the wedding and am struggling with where to go.

Originally we planned on driving to Paris and then catching the Euro-star back to London but then realized a cross-country rental car drop fee would be quite extortionate. Therefore, we think the best option would be to do a loop to end up in Switzerland to return the rental.

Some other notes for the road trip:

- Prefer to stay at least 2 nights in one place so that we're not switching hotels every night
- Am open to driving route options in terms of incorporating Germany, Austria and/or France. I know we only have 5-6 days so I'm conscious of time and know that we can't see all the countries i mentioned. We don't want to spend 8 hours a day in the car! Do want to enjoy the route and our destinations. Just want to list out the countries that we are open to seeing if your suggestion would include going outside of Switzerland.
- Would prefer to stay off the highways if there are alternate routes so that we're not just starring at trucks and concrete.

I would love to hear your thoughts on some driving itinerary suggestions. Thanks in advance for sharing!
