Road trip from Fussen, Germany to Venice, Italy

I and my family (my wife and 3 daughters) will be driving from Fussen to Venice Italy, starting on 13 December.
We are originally come from Singapore.
On the way to get there, we are thinking to stop by around Switzerland to experience some snow adventures such as skiing or snow boarding (we are thinking to stay at St.Moritz - but when I checked the accomodation there, they are extremely expensive !) so we are thinking to stay around upper Italy or surrounding St.Moritz neighbourhood.
8 years ago, we ever visited Titlis, and we heard about St.Moritz is a beautiful place and a must see when next time visiting Switzerland.
But as the price of accomodation is very high there, we are thinking just to pass by and only see St.Moritz, and stay around the surrounding areas which offer cheaper accomodation.
We are thinking of Aprica in upper Italy which also offers ski resort and cheaper accomodation.
But this is only an idea, if you guys have any better idea, please kindly share to us.

Also, the reason we are renting a car and doing a road trip is we heard there are many beautiful scenery along Switzerland alps. We do not know which route is the beautiful one though. If you happen to have some experiences, please also share. Your shared experiences will be greatly appreciated !

Thank you !

First thing you need to ascertain is whether you can even drive that route on the day you wish to, and any detour via Switzerland. It involves crossing the Alps. Winter being what it is, many mountain routes and passes close, or are difficult to navigate, only open to those with chains etc.

There is no way of telling what conditions will be like when you plan on attempting this trip, check with www.viamichelin.com, and be ready to hop on a train if it has to be. They run all the time and you don't need to reserve long in advance.

For Titlis in winter see http://www.titlis.ch/en/titlis/titli...ter_activities

St. Moritz is exclusive and exceptionally expensive, there are many more modest alternatives, but in Switzerland nothing is "cheap" - that's just the way it is.

If snow is what you're after, the vicinity of Innsbruck is likely to offer what you are looking for, without the need to make the expensive and time-consuming detour via Switzerland. Innsbruck is on the direct route from Füssen to Venice.

Hope this helps.

I suppose you are used to drive on snow and black ice. The road from Imst to St. Moritz is usually free of snow, but there often remains some frozen snow at some places neverteheless (after heavy snowfall, snow slides, etc.)
Early morning temperatures in the St. Moritz area can easily sink below 0 degres Fahrenheit (minus 20 degrees centigrade).

Aprica has absolutely nothing to do with St. Moritz. The easist way to get there from Fuessen in winter would be the highway via Kempten - Lindau - Chur - Bellinzona to Lugano and then the Statale roads 340, 38 and 39 to Menaggio - Colico - Tresenda - Aprica. You could then continue via Edolo - Iseo to Brescia Ovest on the Milan - Venice motorway.

If ou are only lookiing fro snow, know that Fuessen lies actually in the snow and that there is still more snow at Fernpass, on your way from Fuessen to either St. Moritz or Innsbruck.

Forget Switz.---too expensive and out of your way.
Head over the Brenner Pass to the Val Gardena for your snow experience. Then, drive to Venice via Cortina for some great scenery as you depart the Dolomites. Good luck !

Bob: that means backtracking from Val Gardena/Val Gherdeina up to Franzensfeste/Fortezza, however.
