River Palace in Rome, Italy
Hey. My hubby and I talked and he really likes the River Palace..it's a steal at $200/night. I looked a lot on trip advisor and people said it was in a great location but one Fodorite (sp?) said it may not be the best location...could I get some thoughts on its location? Thanks!

It's on Via Flaminia a few blocks north of the Piazza de Popolo--not as central as some would like, but still walkable to many sights and near a metro stop. To me it's no worse located than staying near Roma Termini, and the neighborhood is nicer.

It's too far out from the center, just my opinion. I wouldn't consider it walking distance to many sights. I do know you can also get a bus up there, because I took one to the auditorium, but you will need to transfer to get a lot of places.

Although I haven't walked that specific block of Via Flaminia, I really like that neighbourhood. I've stayed in the Piazza de Popola area and the Campo d'Fiori area, and prefer the former. I think most Fodorites wouldn't agree with me, though.
The hotel looks lovely and the price is terrific.
I'd be interested in the River Palace so please post back on it when you return.
