Reykjavik Trip - Hotel Help Please
My husband and I are planning a short, 3 night, trip to Reykjavik this coming February. We found great rates on flights and are now looking for a hotel. We would like to stay at a nice (4 star or higher) hotel. So far I have come up with the following list:
Hotel Borg - only drawback seems to be noise complaints.
Hotel Holt
Hotel Odinsve
Hotel Thingholt
Which would you choose?
Thanks in advance for help on this choice. We would also appreciate some restaurant recommendations - we love nice dinners and there seem to be a lot of places to choose from.

I wouldn't worry too much about noise complaints in February -- there will be few tourists, and your windows will definitely be closed! We stayed a block off of Laugavegur (the main drag) and found it to be very quiet, even on a Saturday night during the Airwaves festival. We stayed at the Hotel Klopp and the rooms (and bathroom especially) were clean but miniscule -- Thingholt is in the same hotel group, but one star-rating up. Thingholt and Holt both get great reviews on tripadvisor.

Karameli - I am concerned about noise at Hotel Borg because I have read complaints on tripadvisor from people who visited Reykjavik in the winter. According to the reviews, even with the windows closed the noise was terrible!
I really liked the look of Hotel Borg, but I don't want to risk an aggravating sleepless stay.

Susie, I was only speaking from my own experience. I believe Thingholt is a block off the main drag and would probably be a bit quieter. Not sure on the other two.
Logos, I see from your previous posts that you're a big fan of economic doomsaying. I was in Reykjavik last week, and while they're all thoroughly aware that the economy is in dire straits, there isn't the same sense of panic that can be found elsewhere. When we spoke to people throughout our trip -- we arrived one week after several Icelandic banks were frozen -- the prevailing attitude was, "It's alright, looks like we'll just start over!" We heard this from several people -- bus drivers, bartenders, tour guides, etc. It's not a sunny financial situation, but it doesn't seem to have affected their "happiest country on earth" disposition. And needless to say, they are perfectly welcoming towards tourist dollars I'm trying to keep their zen-like outlook towards the economy here!
